After looting and riots resulted in major damage to parts of his ward, Chicago alderman Raymond Lopez asked the city's mayor about her plan to protect the residents from further harm and destruction. The alderman stating that the downtown area had been protected, leaving residential districts vulnerable.
During a conference call with the Mayor and the city's other alderman, Lopez asked,
“Once they’re done looting and rioting and whatever’s going to happen tonight, God help us, what happens when they start going after residents? Going into the neighborhoods? Once they start trying to break down people’s doors, if they think they’ve got something."
Mayor Lori Lightfoot tried to blow-off Lopez' query. Angry over the snub from the Mayor, Lopez pushed-back, leading to a greater degree of candor between the pair...
Lightfoot's reponse,
“I think you’re 100% full of s***, is what I think".
Lopez shot back...
“F*** you, then. Who are you to tell me I’m full of s***?. Maybe you should come out and see what’s going on.”
