'West Wing,' 'Good Doctor' Star Richard Schiff Hospitalized With COVID-19

Richard Schiff and his wife, Sheila Kelly, have been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19.

The West Wing and Good Doctor star, 65, provided fans with a hopeful “Covid update” in breaking the news via Twitter Monday (November 16), assuring followers that he and his wife are getting better by the day.

“Covid update. Thank you all for so much love and support. You’re making it so much easier for @thesheilakelley and me,” Schiff tweeted. “I am in the hospital on Remdesivir, O2 and steroids showing some improvement every day. Sheila is home and doing better but still fairly ill. Love you all.”

Schiff initially announced the couple’s positive results on November 10, informing fans that he’d tested positive for the novel virus on Election Day.

“This has been the most bizarre week of our lives,” he said at the time. “@thesheilakelley is also positive. This is tough. We are determined to find a way to health again. We root for everyone out there who are struggling with this thing. Love from here.”

Kelly also took to social media to describe her “tough” fight with the disease, telling Instagram followers, "I have never experienced anything like this before in my life. One minute I'm feeling pretty good and the next I'm struggling to breathe.”

Per her post, it also remains unclear how the couple contracted the disease. As Kelly explained, “Could have been the gym. Could’ve been take out. It’s impossible to know.”

“Keep masking up,” she urged, concluding, “Washing hands. Stay away from this virus. It is a mother’f-er. We love you.”
