The last Soviet leader has passed away.
Mikhail Gorbachev passed away after a battle with illness, at the age of 91.
After coming into power in 1985, Gorbachev faced battles, both foreign and domestic, until the collapse of the communist regime in 1991. Hailed by some in the west, and a pariah in the east, the tributes have started to flow in.
