A Florida teenager was killed in a shootout with police after executing his mother and father. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call on Saturday (June 15) night from Rebecca Ann Themelis, who said that her husband, Christos Byron Themelis, had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found Rebecca and her son, Christos Alexander Themelis Jr., 19, outside their home. They watched in horror as Christos shot his mother execution-style in the back of the head.
He then started shooting at the officers, who returned fire. One of the deputies was shot in the leg and taken to hospital. He is in stable condition following surgery.
Christos then retreated back inside his home. The SWAT team was called and broke down the front door. When they entered the house, they found the body of Christos' father near the door. During a search of the home, they found the teen dead from the injuries he suffered during the shootout with the police.
"The monster we encountered this evening is responsible for not only injuring our deputy but also killing his own mother and father," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our deputies responded to a chaotic scene and immediately put themselves in harm's way to protect our community. Without our deputy's quick and skillful response, an entire neighborhood would have been in danger."
